Is the New Testament part of the original Bible?

The Christian Bible has two sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is the original Hebrew Bible, the sacred scriptures of the Jewish faith, written at different times between about 1200 and 165 BC. The New Testament books were written by Christians in the first century AD.

Where Did the New Testament Come From?

A few fragments survive from the 2nd century, but the earliest complete New Testament (the Codex Sinaiticus, in Greek, written probably in Egypt, now in the British Library) dates from the late 4th century. By this time Jerome is working in Bethlehem on his Latin version of the Bible.

Together the Old Testament and the New Testament make up the Holy Bible. The Old Testament contains the sacred scriptures of the Jewish faith, while Christianity draws on both Old and New Testaments, interpreting the New Testament as the fulfilment of the prophecies of the Old.

How is the Old Testament different from the New Testament?

For Christians today, their Bible has an Old and New Testament; both testaments are a collection of books revealed over time. The Old Testament was revealed over a thousand year period, 1450 B.C. to 425 B.C.; the New Testament is separated from the New Testament by a 450-year period known as the Inter-testimonial period.

How many books are there in the New Testament?

The New Testament includes even more textual evidence to support its accuracy. Its 27 books were composed between the AD 40s-90s. A fragment of the Gospel of John exists from approximately AD 125. More than 5,000 Greek manuscripts exist of New Testament writings, enabling comparison to allow a comprehensive reconstruction of the earliest text.

What are the three parts of the New Testament?

The New Testament is also divided into three segments: (1) The Gospels; (2) Church History, which basically includes just the book of Acts; and (3) The Apostolic Writings, which includes everything else. How was the original Bible compiled? Its assemblage can be traced through Scripture in a fairly accurate manner.

When did the church recognize the New Testament?

The final New Testament canon was first identified by the church father Athanasius in AD 367 and ratified by the Council of Carthage in AD 397. But history shows that the actual New Testament in modern Bibles was recognized much earlier and that it is an exact reflection of what the “autographs” contained.
